Most students join us in Year 7. The enrolment process for Year 7 is managed centrally by the Department for Education, not by individual schools.
How the Process Works
If your young person is in Year 6, you'll receive a transition package through their primary school. This package includes an online Registration of Interest Form showing your zoned school, along with space to nominate up to three schools you'd like your young person to attend.
The completed form goes to the Department for Education. The due date for submission is mid-May each year. The Department then allocates students to schools, and families are notified in mid-August about whether they've received a place at Blackwood High School.
If Your Young Person Attends a Non-Government Primary School
Parents and caregivers of Year 6 students at non-government schools who wish to enrol at Blackwood High should contact us on (08) 8278 0900. We'll arrange for a transition package, including the Registration of Interest Form, to be posted to your home.
Our Local Primary Schools
We receive students from Belair, Bellevue Heights, Blackwood, Coromandel Valley, Eden Hills and Hawthorndene Primary Schools. Large numbers also come from Craigburn and Flagstaff Hill Primary Schools, while some arrive from other out-of-zone primary schools.
