What the Governing Council Does
The Governing Council represents the whole school community. Its membership includes parents, caregivers, students, staff, local and state government officials, and community members. Together, they work with the Principal to:
- involve the local community in school life
- develop and approve local school policies
- set the broad direction and vision for the school
- monitor and review our school improvement plan
- serve as the employing authority for the school's canteen
Our Annual General Meeting typically happens in early March each year. After that, the Governing Council meets twice each Term to discuss matters affecting the school and make decisions that benefit all students.

Our current office bearers are:
- Matthew Cheshire (Chairperson)
- Sarah Wickham (Deputy Chairperson)
These parents bring their own perspectives and experiences to guide the Council's work, and they're supported by members who care deeply about this school.
How You Can Get Involved
We need parents and caregivers who want to contribute to the school's direction. You don't need special qualifications or endless spare time. You just need to care about making Blackwood High the best possible place for young people to learn and grow.
